A small, experienced team dedicated entirely to vein treatment
About Nelson Vein Clinic
Nelson Vein Clinic is a dedicated vein treatment clinic located in central Nelson at the Health @132 Complex on Collingwood Street. We're not a general practice or a large vascular unit. We're a small, specialist team that focuses exclusively on diagnosing and treating varicose vein and spider vein conditions.
When you come to us, you'll see the same specialists every visit, from your initial consultation through to your 12-month follow-up. We take the time to individually assess each patient's needs, explain the options clearly, and follow up properly to make sure you get the result you came for.
We use the latest minimally invasive treatment techniques (UGS, EVLA, and VenaSeal), meaning most procedures are walk-in, walk-out with no hospital stay and no general anaesthetic. Strong communication and thorough follow-up processes are central to how we work.
Our team

Lindsay McCullum
Specialist Sonographer & Vein Clinician
Lindsay brings 27 years of medical imaging experience to every consultation, with the last 20 years focused specifically on vascular ultrasound. He completed a postgraduate diploma in medical ultrasound from the University of South Australia and trained in Melbourne for his first 8 years before spending 12 months in London, then returning home to the Top of the South Island.
For the 14 years that followed, Lindsay worked with Dr David Orsbourn at Enhance Skin, one of the first doctors in the Nelson/Marlborough region to use laser for varicose vein treatment, building expertise across thousands of successful patients. Following Dr Orsbourn's retirement, he now works alongside Dr Stephen Busby.
What makes his approach distinctive is the combination of deep technical knowledge and genuine time spent with each patient. "I love working in an area where there are generally only 2 degrees of separation," he says. "Most people I meet, I have someone in common with that I have already ultrasounded over the last 20 years, or we have a friend in common."
His message to anyone sitting on the fence: think about the future and what your legs will be like without treatment as you age. Untreated varicose veins can progress to ulcers, lipodermatosclerosis, and venous eczema, all of which are painful and debilitating conditions that are far harder to manage than the underlying vein problem.
Outside the clinic, Lindsay has four teenage children and enjoys time on the water, skiing, golf, and entertaining.
"The most common feedback we hear is that a patient's painful, heavy legs have completely gone, and as a bonus, they can now wear shorts again."

Dr Stephen "Buzz" Busby
Vein Treatment Physician (Interventional Radiologist)
Dr Busby is our medical specialist, overseeing each patient's treatment plan and performing each procedure. He works closely with Lindsay to ensure every patient receives the most appropriate treatment for their situation.
